Senator Susan Collins often says she is “concerned” about Donald Trump and the actions of those around him. Yet concern without action does little for the people of Maine or for struggling families across our country.
When policies prioritize tax cuts for the wealthy while reducing benefits that working families rely on, expressions of concern ring hollow. Concern does not put food on a family’s table. Concern does not help parents afford health care. Concern does not provide support for a child with a disability.
At some point, elected officials must be judged not by how often they express concern, but by the choices they make and the votes they cast. The people they represent deserve more than words—they deserve action.
